Most ceramic tiles are rated for durability (hardness) or scratch resistance you a rating system calls the MOHS test. (1 would be softest, 10 would be the hardest.) Ceramic tile that has a 5 or more is good for most residential flooring. Ceramic tile that tests with a 7 or higher is great for commercial use or where there are heavy traffic areas.
